How much should I expect to pay for motorcycle insurance on a cheap bike in MA? (I’m in cambridge.) I know it depends on a variety of factors, and I could call an agent and get a quote, but I’m just looking for a rough estimate.

I just looked at buying a 2001 Audi TT and Allstate told me that insurance would be 0 a month.. So I dont really know whats next but I was considering buying a used cruiser motorcycle around 250cc.. I am 17, no tickets, good grade discount, and teen-smart driving discount… I don’t have my motorcycle license, but I wouldn’t imagine it would be too difficult to get one. I only need insurance on my bike for like a week and progressive only gives me the option to either pay the full 12 month cost (5) up front now OR 2 payments a year which is 5 up front right now. Im not paying 5 when im only going to be riding it for a week…?

I was wondering what is the cost difference between a 250cc and s 500cc motorcycle. And does the motorcycle safety course lower the cost of insurance? Also is it realistic to think i can get everything i need for a motorcycle including the bike for under 00? I am using the motorcycle for school and work transportation. Thank you for your time

I mean the minimum required by law in your country. in some places it’s only medical coverage in case of accident, in others third-party insurance is mandatory as well – please elaborate in your answers.

I ask because where I live (Israel), it would cost 3 times as much to purchase mandatory insurance for a 250CC bike than for a compact car, and the bike fees are going to get yet higher soon – so I wanted to learn how it goes in other countries.

Mr. "ride all year", I ask this only because the insurance companies here claim that even as it is, with the bike insurance being 3 times as much as car insurance (insurance that only cover possible injuries both to the driver and third side, but no property damage whatsoever) – the insurance companies claim that the risk the bikers pose is yet higher than that. I just wanted to know whether it’s bullshit or not, and I assumed that in no country would insurance companies agree to actually lose money.
the problem here is that car owners believe they are partially paying for the biker’s insurance, and therefore support the position of the companies.

My Insurance Nightmare / Still Walking

Hey guys, My 2002 K1200LT motorcycle, fell off loading ramp, contacted my Insurance Co. The one that will give you the name of lower priced competitor. It bounced from adjuster to adjuster. I’m having to explain damaged in detail over and over. I left it at the BMW shop who did not want to work on it because of frame being bent. Insurance company felt it was not. The estimate was over ,000. WOW. Ins. offered me a check of 00 or they could move it to one of their certified shops. It was moved. One day it’s ready within hours it’s not ready. Now going on 5 1/2 months still not fixed. Or should I say about 50%. Every excuse in the book. Now that their (chop shop) has made bad thing worse, now they ask me where would I like the bike to be transferred for further repair. I was told to tell them to total the bike butt hey still want to send it to another shop. To be honest at this point this bike scares me to many hands repairing it. Please give me some leverage to get them to say uncle and just total the thing out. Thank you PS no their cycle ins does not cover temp rental. Book is 000, Still making payments.
