-Should I know a certain amount of Spanish?
-If I’m gluten/lactose intolerant, will there be a lot of food restrictions in Mexico?
-How do you get around? Taxi, motorbike, rental car?
-Should I beware of cheap packages?
Thanks for your thoughts.

A Look at motorbike rental in Hire a motorbike rental on Koh Lanta?

motorbike rental:

Question by Patty H: Hire a motorbike rental on Koh Lanta?
Has anyone rent a motorbike on Koh Lanta? or any other islands in Thailand?

Does it need any driver license? or international driver license??

Best answer:

Answer by Gerald J
I’ve rented motorbikes in a couple of places and all they wanted was your passport to hold until you returned the bike, which I don’t like leaving with anybody. The last time I left my driver’s license instead, but I did have an International Driver’s Permit just in case I was stopped by the police. The Thai Police will normally accept either your driver’s license from home or an IDP if you should be stopped, and it’s a good idea to bring copies of your passport if the rental company wants to keep your passport. You don’t have to have an IDP, but it doesn’t hurt to have one, I’ve shown my IDP when stopped before and they asked for nothing more. The main thing is to have some 100 baht notes to pay the “fine” if you’re stopped by the police. Have fun.

No, you need an international driving licence (that is just a formal act but costs money) and a credit card. For companies renting vihicles charge a credit card.

motorbike rentals and Where can I find motorbike rentals in Jakarta?

motorbike rentals:

Question by NGOkid: Where can I find motorbike rentals in Jakarta?
Already tried this on an ex-pat board but got no response, so any info would be appreciated. Hoping to find a reputable company within Jakarta that does weekly or monthly motorbike rentals. No issue finding any within Bali or Jogja, but was surprised to not find anything published specifically for Jakarta. Jak Selatan would be nice, but willing to go further if there is a group that keeps their machines in good condition and are reputable by ex-pat standards. If anyone has dealt with any such companies, care to pass along the details? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by buzzrina
I don’t think there is such company in Jakarta. Yogyakarta is different, you can find so many motorbike rental companies there.

However, in Jakarta someone maybe willing to rent his motorbike. In this case you have to deal with the person. Person to person business.

harley hire:

Question by Andy Whyte: What type of license do I need to hire a motorbike in Mexico (Cancun)?
I am visiting Cancun later this month for a holiday and really like the idea of hiring a Harley.

I am fully proficient in riding motorbikes as I have done since I was a boy. But I don’t have a motorcycle license.

I am from England and have a full UK driving license.

What are the laws in Mexico? would I be able to hire a Harley?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Motorcycle vs Car costs?

motorcycle insurance comparison

Hi,

I am 20 years old, have a full uk driving license and have been a named driver for 3 years.

According to various insurance websites, it will cost about 500 pounds to insure me, and the cheapest cars seem to come around 500 with a few months left on the MOT

If I were to complete a CBT (about 100 pounds cost) how much would it cost to buy a cheap second hand motorbike, and how much would insurance cost in comparison to a car.

Also, where can you keep a motorcycle in a city?

Thanks
Obviously under 125cc
Quotes are no good if I cant even name a model

I only wanted a brief summarisation of whether its cheaper or not :<
