approximate cost for teen motorcycle insurance?

motorcycle insurance brokers:

Question by Rick J: approximate cost for teen motorcycle insurance?
hey, im 17 years old and live in Ontario, i recently got my G2 but cannot find a way to get car insurance cheap enough to actually warrant getting a car. I was wondering if anyone has any ballpark answer as to how much motorcycle insurance is at my age? every google search i do says “you should ask your insurance broker”, well i will, but i just want to see if its even worth looking at or if its going to be like $ 300 a month like car insurance.

the bike would probably just be like a cheap used early 1990’s bike, nothing special.

thanks

Answer by Gabe
Well the bike still depends, if it is a sport bike or not. Insurance is not going to be nearly as much as a cars insurance but can still be quite pricey especially for a teen on a crotch rocket. I am only 20 (21 next month) and pay like 54 a month on my harley.

lets say that you have a 250cc motorcycle for few years and the 250cc bike has a low rate on insurance ….later when you switch to a 600cc with the same insurance company ….will your rate be a little higher or your rate starts all over again like new motorcycles?

The rate goes up.

The liability rate on the motorcycle, cc’s are a major rating factor.

insurance for motorcycle rental and Ins won’t total 2002 K1200LT motorcycle, Ins Co. It’s been 5 months at their certified shop, they won’t total

insurance for motorcycle rental:

Question by BMW k1200: Ins won’t total 2002 K1200LT motorcycle, Ins Co. It’s been 5 months at their certified shop, they won’t total
My Insurance Nightmare / Still Walking

Hey guys, My 2002 K1200LT motorcycle, fell off loading ramp, contacted my Insurance Co. The one that will give you the name of lower priced competitor. It bounced from adjuster to adjuster. I’m having to explain damaged in detail over and over. I left it at the BMW shop who did not want to work on it because of frame being bent. Insurance company felt it was not. The estimate was over $ 10,000. WOW. Ins. offered me a check of $ 4000 or they could move it to one of their certified shops. It was moved. One day it’s ready within hours it’s not ready. Now going on 5 1/2 months still not fixed. Or should I say about 50%. Every excuse in the book. Now that their (chop shop) has made bad thing worse, now they ask me where would I like the bike to be transferred for further repair. I was told to tell them to total the bike butt hey still want to send it to another shop. To be honest at this point this bike scares me to many hands repairing it. Please give me some leverage to get them to say uncle and just total the thing out. Thank you PS no their cycle ins does not cover temp rental. Book is $ 12000, Still making payments.

You should do a commercial for the insurance company who’s On Your Side. Maybe they’ll pay you enough to get another bike.

You could be on TV saying something like, “Life comes at you fast. Covered repairs shouldn’t come at you slow.”

But seriously, you won’t get anything these days w/o an attorney. Attorneys drive up insurance costs, but some [discount] insurance companies force clients to use attorneys.

Just looking at getting myself a scooter next year and doing some research. Looking to see how much the insurance would be and if it is worth my time to go for rider training such as the course offered by Durham college.

Looking at a scooter of at least 125 CC but probibly no more than 250.

Hello
I have a Honda elite 150 insured with GEICO with liability only
for $ 84.00 a year. I also took the riding course and I think this lowered the rate.

Question by trevor51590: Motorcycle Insurance Companies Question?
My father has his bike insured with a certain company. Another company has cheaper insurance for me on that bike than his does. Is it possible for me to buy my own policy from a separate company without affecting his coverage?
I actually found out that I can not be insured with my father’s company because I am not 21.

Answer by rottendog93
Probably not. But what are the limits of his insurance compared to your quote? I’ll bet your quote is for the minimum your state will allow. After you hit that amount, it’s coming out of your (or daddy’s) pocket.
Trust us old bikers, we have learned from experience what things should be.
I learned when a friend hit another biker and all he had was state minimum ($ 10.000.00) The helicopter ride the other rider took was $ 7500.00. Then surgeries, hospital stay, loss of income, pain and suffering, permanent disability (partial), months of rehab, replacing his bike ($ 30,000) And that was just the other guy. He got his leg broken in 3 places, broken ribs, internal injuries requiring surgery, and a bunch of stitches. He lost his house! Now they garnish his pay every week to pay against what he owes the insurance companies and this man. He gets about half his pay, and will probably loose half his retirement (social security) and still not pay off what he owes before he dies.

motorcycle insurance brokers and Teen Motorcycle Insurance in ontario?

motorcycle insurance brokers:

Question by Rick J: Teen Motorcycle Insurance in ontario?
hello, i am 17 years old, turning 18 in october. I live one hour north of Toronto ontario in a city of 125,000 people. I am wondering the approximate cost to insure me on a 2011 Honda cbr 250r, which costs approximately $ 4000. I have completed a drivers education program as well.

PLEASE DON’T TELL ME TO CONTACT AN INSURANCE BROKER
I can’t check online quotes either because of my age.

I just want to know if it is even worth looking at or if i will be paying like 4 grand a year to ride 5-6 months.

thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by ourlittleadventures.com
First off, your information is false.

A Honda CBR-250R costs about $ 1,600 more than the $ 4,000 you’re imagining. MSRP alone is $ 4,499. Since there was a waiting list for these bikes and they are in high demand, dealers will not be selling for less.

After MSRP you have other fees. PDI and Freight are usually a few hundred depending on the time it takes mechanics to prep the bike, Admin is generally $ 100, Licensing in Ontario is $ 75, and the OTS (Ontario Tire Stewardship) is $ 11.68… you’re looking at about $ 4,999 before taxes, or about $ 5,600 after taxes.

Second issue with your facts is that you can check online even with your age.
I was 18 when I started riding and got lots of quotes online. Look at Kanetix.ca for example. Their rates suck however. The companies that aren’t quoting you because of your age are also the ones that probably won’t insure you because of it.

I won’t tell you to contact insurance brokers because you asked me not to… but you know what you need to do.

Last thing that’s wrong with your info is the 5-6 months of riding season. With the right gear you can ride 9 months or even more. I ride in Toronto year round.

Usually I’m a lot nicer in my answers, but you really need to sit down and do some homework on this. If you can’t figure out the proper pricing, you probably aren’t ready for a motorcycle.
