I mean the minimum required by law in your country. in some places it’s only medical coverage in case of accident, in others third-party insurance is mandatory as well – please elaborate in your answers.

I ask because where I live (Israel), it would cost 3 times as much to purchase mandatory insurance for a 250CC bike than for a compact car, and the bike fees are going to get yet higher soon – so I wanted to learn how it goes in other countries.

Mr. "ride all year", I ask this only because the insurance companies here claim that even as it is, with the bike insurance being 3 times as much as car insurance (insurance that only cover possible injuries both to the driver and third side, but no property damage whatsoever) – the insurance companies claim that the risk the bikers pose is yet higher than that. I just wanted to know whether it’s bullshit or not, and I assumed that in no country would insurance companies agree to actually lose money.
the problem here is that car owners believe they are partially paying for the biker’s insurance, and therefore support the position of the companies.

When I got insurance on my bike, there was an option where I could get a 10% discount if I was a member of a group or club. But my club wasn’t listed. How can my club get it’s name added to those lists? My club has more members than many of the clubs listed. How do insurance companies decide what clubs get onto their lists?

A minivan rental car backed into my motorcycle today and caused a whole bunch of damage.

Is it possible my insurance rates will go up even if I’m not at fault? Because the bike was parked when this happened (no one driving) do I need to tell insurance companies about it when shopping for a new policy?
also, who is responsible in this case: the rental car agency or the drivers personal insurance?

I’m opening a motorcycle rental business. I need someone to insure my motorcycles when they are rented out. I’m in MD. This is a relatively new industry. The only insurance companies I can find, require you to join an association and that association requires one to use their ,000 liscensing software. I’m not even sure if this is legal, but in the mean time, I need insurance!
