Question by jailerjeff: In Oregon, Is it law that my wife be on my motorcycle ins. even if she does not ride? How about my son?
I’m told that I have to put her name on my insurance, thus raising my rates.

No you don’t..Does she have a motorcycle endorsement? Probably not so no you don’t need to. With that type of thinking if I had my 70 year old mother move in with me then I would have to put her on my insurance for my bike.How the hell can someone be on an insurance policy that does not have a license, not drivers licens a motorcycle license hahah

My Insurance Nightmare / Still Walking

Hey guys, My 2002 K1200LT motorcycle, fell off loading ramp, contacted my Insurance Co. The one that will give you the name of lower priced competitor. It bounced from adjuster to adjuster. I’m having to explain damaged in detail over and over. I left it at the BMW shop who did not want to work on it because of frame being bent. Insurance company felt it was not. The estimate was over ,000. WOW. Ins. offered me a check of 00 or they could move it to one of their certified shops. It was moved. One day it’s ready within hours it’s not ready. Now going on 5 1/2 months still not fixed. Or should I say about 50%. Every excuse in the book. Now that their (chop shop) has made bad thing worse, now they ask me where would I like the bike to be transferred for further repair. I was told to tell them to total the bike butt hey still want to send it to another shop. To be honest at this point this bike scares me to many hands repairing it. Please give me some leverage to get them to say uncle and just total the thing out. Thank you PS no their cycle ins does not cover temp rental. Book is 000, Still making payments.

I bought the bike from CA for a good deal..the only issues were scraped fairings on one side and a tiny dent in the gas tank..the previous owner had it inspected and registered.. However the CA title says "salvage". I replaced all the plastic and the bikes great. Its being shipped to NY, will I have to jump through hoops to get it registered and insured here? I switched my registration and insurance to a car with a salvage title here with no problems about a year ago.. how do things go with bikes?

I got hit on my motorcycle yesterday by a guy in a rental. The cop said we had to call the rental place ourselves to get the guy’s insurance info. My husband called today and they said they’re not sure if the guy has insurance. They said he didn’t get the rental’s insurance, and he signed a waiver saying he does have his own ins. They said since he signed the waiver they didn’t need to see his proof. That doesn’t sound right to me!!! By the way, everyone is fine (except my bike). I did manage to keep my bike up though, that’s a very good thing!

I prefer one that will provide same day proof of coverage. My hubby was stopped on Friday after work and we need this as soon as possible. Thanks!!
I guess I should have provided more info… In no way are we trying to scam anyone. He finally finished repairs (lower end and chain) on Wed. and yes he rode it two days w/o ins. I made the mistake of not getting it sooner…and all we wanted was to get the temp. ID card so we could get the bike out of impound before the rate got out of hand.
